About Me

Alex is a Denver-based cinematographer and field producer focused on documentary and docu-style productions.

He has worked on television series, documentary films, breaking news, and has a background in traditional photojournalism, having worked as a photographer for the Telegram & Gazette in Worcester, Ma. His debut documentary short, 142 Miles From Monday, premiered at film festivals around the US and UK, including the Vail Film Festival. More recently, his coverage of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma for The Weather Channel received over six million views online. In 2017, he spent 30-days filming a documentary series about agriculture in the American and Canadian Midwest.

Alex is an adaptable cinematographer that is comfortable working as a one person crew, including as a field producer, or as part of a specialized team, and has strong crew relationships across the Rocky Mountain west.

He has worked as the MultiMedia editor for Skiing Magazine, where he helped launched the multimedia platform Skiing Interactive in 2011, as well as curate submissions from the world's premiere outdoor photographers. He was also a founding partner of Gociety, a VC-funded outdoor adventure social network. He has been shooting professionally for 11 years.

When not working, Alex enjoys mountain biking, skiing and hiking Colorado's Rocky Mountains.

Why Hire Me?

  • Adaptability: I can work as a one-man-band (managing sound, picture, and lighting) or I can build out a specialized crew.
  • Range: I bring to the table the ability to field produce and co-direct. Many of my assignments for news outlets involve only myself and a location producer, meaning that my responsibilities extend beyond just the camera.
  • Relationships: I have strong working relationships with producers, sound recordists, AC's, grips, composers, make up artists, rental houses, PA's, photographers, and other camera operators in the region that can be leveraged based on the needs of the project.

  • Experience: I've been shooting professionally for 11 years, and have worked everywhere from prisons to farms to the remote Arctic wilderness, and I bring with me a refined sense of artful storytelling and professionalism.
