Bio:
Alex is an American cinematographer and field producer focused on documentary and adventure filmmaking.
In 2018, he filmed the segments for three of the top ten CNN Heroes: 1, 2, 3.
Equal parts journalist and technician, Alex is as comfortable conducting interviews as he is lighting them. He operates with Sony and Canon cinema cameras, and is a licensed commercial drone operator.
He excels in unpredictable settings, and has produced work during civil unrest, inside hurricanes, operating rooms, prisons, wildlife blinds, and remote alpine environments. He has worked on television series, documentary films and breaking news. He has a background in action sports photography, and was trained as a newspaper photojournalist in Massachusetts at the beginning of his career.
He is a proficient outdoorsman and has skied first descents in Svalbard, scuba dived fjords in Iceland, mountain biked Western China, and climbed 35 of Colorado's 14,000' peaks.
He has worked as the MultiMedia Editor for Skiing Magazine, and was a founding partner of Gociety, a VC-funded outdoor adventure social network. Alex has been shooting professionally for 13 years.

Why Hire Me?
- Adaptability: I can work as a one-man-band (self-shooting PD) managing sound, picture, and lighting, or I can build out a specialized crew for any given project.
- Range: I bring to the table the ability to field produce and co-direct. Many of my assignments for news outlets involve only myself and a location producer, meaning that my responsibilities extend beyond just the camera.
- Relationships: I have strong working relationships with producers, sound recordists, AC's, grips, composers, make up artists, rental houses, photographers, and other camera operators in the region that can be leveraged based on the needs of the project.
- Experience: I've been shooting professionally for 15 years, and I bring with me a refined sense of artful storytelling and professionalism.
